Fund Raising for Cardiac Screening for Young People in Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire and The Citizen have joined forces to raise funds for vital cardiac screening for young people in the county.

The screening will taking place at the University's Oxstalls Campus in Gloucester on April 8 and 9, 2014 where there will also be a two day celebration of sport and physical activity to take part in, watch or learn! There will also be first aid and defibrillator training available for parents, coaches, team managers and any member of the community who wishes to be trained in these lifesaving skills.

They need to raise £7,000 so that 200 people aged between 14 and 35 can take advantage of the screening for free. This screening is important because it can detect any potential heart issues which could, if not undetected, be fatal.

A few members of staff from the Faculty of Applied Sciences (one of them is Britta) are training hard and running the Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon on 30th March to support the Stop the Heartbreak campaign.  We are a 'mixed ability' group - please give generously, it's an excellent cause.
