New player...

There was a question on the website recently as to who the 34th player for the Cougars would be. Before revealing that first consider the number 34...

34 is the ninth distinct semiprime and has four divisors including one and itself. Its neighbors, 33 and 35, also are distinct semiprimes, having four divisors each, and 34 is the smallest number to be surrounded by numbers with the same number of divisors as it has. It is also in the first cluster of three distinct semiprimes, being within 33, 34, 35; the next such cluster of semiprimes is 85, 86, 87.

It is the ninth Fibonacci number and a companion Pell number. Since it is an odd-indexed Fibonacci number, 34 is a Markov number, appearing in solutions with other Fibonacci numbers, such as (1, 13, 34), (1, 34, 89), etc.

I think that we all learned something there...

Back to football and we are pleased to confirm the signing of Daniel Akiat for next season. Dan like Ollie is returning to Leckhampton Rovers having started his career playing in the Panthers. Dan brings significant quality to the team and furthers our attacking options. There is a medical and personal terms to agree but those are suspected to be a formality, 5 push ups and note from his mum will suffice.

On hearing that the deal was close to being done Dan declined to comment to the assembled media and simply raised his index finger skyward. Very enigmatic and despite the sage nodding of heads nobody really understood what he meant.

This concludes the LRFC Cougars business for the new season. As we look ahead to U16's we have an incredibly strong squad with real ability across all positions.

Welcome aboard Dan!

Pre-Season Training

The first date for pre-season training has been set as Wednesday 12th August from 18:30-1945hrs and will be at Leckhampton School where the LRFC Men's team are also training. There will then be sessions at the same time and venue on 19/08 and 26/08.

These sessions will be very fitness focussed so wear your running shoes (brining your footey trainers/boots and shin pads) and bring a drink!

Remember that to be fit enough to play football you need to be able to run 10km so training on your own can only help you looking ahead to next season.

LRFC New Signing

With the transfer window only 6 days old the Cougars are doing their
business early. Following the impressive signing of Alf comes another
with Ollie Thomas joining the squad.

Ollie is well known in this parish having played for the Panthers
previously, he then moved onto GVR and played for Stroud last season.
He returns to the welcome embrace of Leckhampton to, in none of his
own words, "complete my football education" he didn't continue, "I've
heard about this Simon fella and how he coaches the team from the
sidelines - I really need to experience that to take my game to the
next level. I'm really looking forward to 'receiving instruction' from
Simon."

Ollie is a quality signing giving us options in attack where he can
play on either wing or as the front man. With abundant pace and a cool
finish this is a significant signing for the team.

Welcome aboard Ollie!

We are looking for one more player for next season, if you know anyone
that is interested please put them in touch with Marcus.

The squad is looking very strong for next year - it's an exciting time
to be part of this squad.

LRFC Cougars announce new signing

Registration documents have been received for Alf Little who joins us
for the 2015/16 following a football sabbatical where he spent a lot
of time chasing an egg shaped ball around Reeves Field. An excellent
recruit for next season Alf brings bags of ability, tenacity and even
more versatility to the squad for next season.

With Gloucester Echo and Daily Sport reporters camped outside his
house this morning hoping for a few words Alf was keeping shtumm
sending his mum out on his behalf to say that, "...it's a dream come
true for Alf to finally be playing for Leckhampton and that all
parties are pleased a deal could be done this early in the window. He
cannot speak to you directly as he has done a lucrative deal to be
interviewed in the summer 2015 Screwfix Catalogue but when the time is
right his football do the talking..."
